A website designer has been requested by a client to create a hair salon website. It will be done using xsitepro with a custom header graphic. There will be quite a few photos that will need editing, a couple of videos made, similar to commercials for the client’s salon as well. Using xsitepro, I’m not using a generic template for this website. You can, but for this I am building the header graphic and adding panels to create the website so that it is 100% unique to her and what she wants. Everything is being built using xsitepro, but nothing is generic as the templates are.

When it came to discussing the pricing, the web designer had no idea what the going rate is. Do most web builders charge per hour or by project/ fixed?

Once you have accessed the requirements and tasks, you should make a decision based on that. The content on your site needs to speak to specific people so you need to research who they are and what it is they are looking for THEN provide them with the relevant content. Think about what your visitors are going to do on your site. Will they read, interact, purchase etc. Then craft the user experience or user journey.

If you are serious about designing as a profession it’s best to learn Dreamweaver. There are several extensions that add features such as support for PHP Adobe Stock Exchange. Though this is best if you have the intention of becoming a website designer or webmaster.

Hostgator is the best for new or seasoned internet marketer and only host I would stick after my experience with bluehost, dreamhost, fatcow and the worst of the lot, arvixe. Once your sites start building in size…more pages, more content..etc…then there is a good chance they will start to run slower. Most of the hosting companies say “unlimited” number of sites but that can be a little misleading.

If you are starting to really build a fair amount of sites, it’s a fairly common practice for those with several sites to split your sites up among different IP addresses. This is good for several reasons but a couple of the main concerns for avoiding hosting several blogs on the same IP are as follows:

1. 1. If there is a problem with a host that causes down time then it doesnt affect all of your sites

1. 2. If all of your sites are on one IP and you do something with one of them to “upset” Google and they “slap” you then there is a good chance all of your sites on that IP cold get punished at the same time. Doesnt mean it will happen but there is a decent chance of it.

And yes, use WordPress – that’s free. If you want to remain really cheap go for a .info – is really cheap for the first year at $1.

FusionHost.com offers the cheapest hosting for unlimited domains. You also get a free dedicated IP for your hosting account which is great for SEO and a free domain with every account.
